For the indigenous cultural communities of the Philippine archipelago, weaving is not just a means of livelihood or a pastime. Weaving is an expression of the community's unique culture and identity.

The abundant forests of the Philippines are home to a variety of honeybees that produce high quality honey. For many indigenous peoples (IPs), honey gathering is a time-honored custom that recounts their strong connection to their environment. They harvest it for their food, health and livelihoods. 

Partner communities harvest and process local produce from their forests or backyards into tea, jams, jellies, juices and other delicious forest foods

Made from non-timber forest products such as bamboo, nito or dried palm leaves, communities express their craft of basketry through skills passed down for generations

Citronella grass is endemic and naturally abundant in the the mountainous region of Malitbog Bukidnon. Our Higaonon partners harvest and distill citronella oil as part of developing their community towards sustainable livelihoods

The forest bestows colors in different forms. The bark of the mahogany tree produces a rich brown color. Annatto seeds give a distinctive orange color. Cogon grass creates a rich yellow color. All of these can be applied in fabrics such as cotton, silk, pineapple and abaca.

Indigo is a shrubby, herbaceous plant that grows 1 to 2 meters high in dry and tropical places. Its scientific name is Indigoferia tinctoria and can be used to dye fabrics such as cotton, abaca, silk, etc into dazzling shades of blue.
